Only a real estate professional who belongs to the National Association of Realtors may call him or herself a Realtor. A Realtor is bound by a Code of Ethics and pledged to protect and promote the interest of the seller by providing fair treatment for all parties involved in the real estate transaction.
Here are some of the ways a Realtor can help you sell your home:
The information provided about what a Realtor can do for you was not designed to scare you into listing your home. Really! It is simply pointing out that when you use an agent, a good agent, you DO get something valuable for the money you pay them in the form of a sales commission. Sometimes, choosing a Realtor can be confusing, get referrals from friends and associates, visit local real estate offices and open houses. Look for the SOLD signs around and find out who is best suited for the job. Once you have your list, interview them and select the best qualified person for the job. The following are some issues you may want to consider during your interview: 1. Realtor's Name and Affiliated Real Estate Company. 2. Experience level, full time or part time, experience in your local area. 3. Number of sales completed locally for past 12-18 months. 4. Examine and compare the marketing plan presented for selling your home. 5. Compare the listing prices suggested and find out how they arrived at it. 6. Compare the commission rate of each Realtor and what they will do for it. 7. Compare the length of the required listing agreement periods. 8. Does the Realtor appear to be concerned with your specific listing? 9. Does this person seem like the kind of person you could work with? 10. Check out the referrals carefully and make sure they are valid. |
